Dear Ann Landers,
"Our school's cross-graded, multiethnic, individ-ualized learning program is designed to enhance the concept of an 2 4 2 I ANN LANI1EI1S open-ended learning program with emphasis on a continuum of mul-tiethnic, academically enriched learning, using the identified intellec-tually gifted child as the agent or director of his own learning. Major emphasis is on cross-graded, multiethnic learning with the main ob-jective being to learn respect for the uniqueness of a person." The parent responded: "
Dear Principal,
I have a college degree, speak two foreign languages and know four Indian dialects. I've at-tended a number of county fairs and three goat ropings, but I haven't the faintest idea as to what the hell you are talking about." OK, Ann, do you know what the principal was trying to say? -Two Dummies in Fort Worth Dear Friends: I don't think you are dummies. That principal needs to learn how to express himself in simple terms. What he means is: "We are planning a program for students of all races, which we hope will encourage the brighter ones to move ahead at their own speed. Grading will be geared to the learning level of the student. In this way, we hope to teach and grade each student accord-ing to his ability to learn." PS. Pay your wife the $10. Or better yet, send it to your local Heart Association.
