Dear Ann Landers,
e've been married three years and my wife is a mess. She won't tell me how much weight she has gained, but she must weigh over two hundred pounds. I could tolerate her size if she weren't so lazy. She has every known appliance to make her housework easier, but she's too "tired" to plug in anything. She has never used her sewing machine even though her clothes are all tom at the seams. She irons nothing, not even a handkerchief. Cooking is out of the ques-tion. Her hobby is talking on the telephone and eating candy. Our two-year-old child doesn't get enough fresh air or sun-shine because her mother is too busy to take her outside. My wife has gone to three doctors, and nobody has been able to help her lose weight. Please suggest something.-Had It

Usually letters which begin like yours wind up with, "and now I have met a lovely woman." It's a familiar story. When a wife refuses to shape up, the husband often ships out. Your wife is more than lazy, she's sick in the head. A woman who refuses to accept her responsibilities and eats like a pig needs psychiatric help.
