Dear Ann Landers, My cousin is engaged to marry a chiropodist. She introduces him as Dr. Ingemar Strudel- grubber, which, of course, is not his real name. Her emphasis is on the word doctor to give the impression he is a brain surgeon or something. I think it would be more honest if she introduced him as Ingemar Strudelgrubber and added, He is a chiropodist. What is your opinion?-Just Asking
Dear Asking,
A chiropodist is a foot doctor who has earned the professional title. He doesn't need to be a brain surgeon to be called doctor. So your cousin can go right ahead and intro-duce her fiance as Dr. Ingemar Strudelgrubber-and I'm happy it's not his real name, too.
