Dear Ann Landers,
I'm an ardent club worker who spends a great deal of time on the telephone. I can't stand it when women eat while they are talking. That crunching sound over the phone drives me bonkers. The other evening one woman 78 was making so much noise I asked, How is the celery? She replied, I'm not eating celery. It's potato chips. And she continued to crunch. Another woman who tipples frequently speaks with an ice cube in her mouth. This morning she said, Just a minute. I have to stir this drink. Then I heard the tinkling and the gulping. Am I getting crotchety in my old age, or is it rude to eat and drink while on the phone?-Fuss- Budget

Dear Fuss,
People who munch, crunch, and gulp on the phone are impolite. If it annoys you, speak up, woman.
