Dear Ann Landers, I have been married three years, and my problem is getting worse instead of better. My husband and I get along fine when there are just the two of us, but when we are with family or friends, I get dizzy spells and my heart begins to pound like a trip hammer. Sometimes my stomach gets tied up in knots and I become nauseated and can't eat. When I am with these same people and my husband is not present, I enjoy myself and feel just fine. I should tell you that my husband was not born in this country and his ways are a little different. My parents were opposed to our marriage, but now they have accepted him. I've told myself that he is doing his best, and I am no longer ashamed of the way he speaks. I've gone to a heart specialist, and he says my heart is fine. What is the matter with me?-Wee Sally
Dear Wee,
You are probably having anxiety symptoms because of your unconscious feelings about your husband. Some people go through life half-sick, dizzy, heart pounding, stomach in knots, without realizing that their physical discom-fort comes from unrelieved tension. You need outside help. Go to your family doctor for a complete physical checkup and ask him to direct you.
