Dear Ann Landers, I've been reading your column for years and have never seen a problem like mine. My son's mother-in-law telephones me at least twice a week to complain about something my son did or did not do. For instance, this morning Mrs. Pain-in-the-Neck called me at 7:30 a.m. and said, Your son left for High Point this morning and didn't leave Marcella any money. He won't be back until tomorrow and the poor girl hasn't got a dime. I'll have to take some money over to her right away. Last week she called to tell me my son gave Marcella only one hour's notice and brought three business friends home for cocktails. Marcella didn't have any soda or lemons in the house. The place was a mess, and she didn't even have time to comb her hair. Marcella happens to be a lazy, disorganized slob. I don't want to become in-volved in their troubles, and I don't want Mrs. Pain-in-the- Neck to tell me what goes on between them. What do you recommend?-H.J.K.
Dear H.J.K.,
The next time Mrs. Pain-in-the-Neck calls say this: "It breaks my heart that a fine, lovely girl like Marcella married a worthless, no-good bum like my son. She could have 171 done much better, and I'm sorry she didn't. Please don't tell me any more sad stories about those two because it spoils my whole day."
