A bit of background about the question: my significant other of 25 years died 6 months ago after a long term illness. We have a 25 year old daughter. During our 25 years he had an illegitimate son that is now 21 years old. The same age as our son. I met this child of his for the first time when he was 15. After my significant other died his son began living with me and my son. About a month ago I began a sexual relationship with what my kids consider my "step-son." They found out about this relationship and have since disowned me calling me disgusting, a poor decision maker, and inappropriate. Other than the 25 year age gap, the way I see it is we are not related, I didn't raise him, I didn't even meet him until he was 15, we are both adults, and we are both single. I was also not married to my significant other, therefore I was never an actual step-mom. Do you see a problem with this relationship?
