Dear Ann Landers,
t was with great interest that I read your en-lightened reply to Mel's wife about cross-dressing. Since I have been a cross-dresser for years, I can tell you there is a great deal of ignorance on this subject, and not many people want to listen to correct information. They would rather harbor their precon-ceived notions. I have battled this thing all my life, and no way can I stop it, Ann. I am normal in every respect except this one. I love to dress like a woman, and nothing will ever change that. I am a minister's son, a college graduate, a Vietnam vet, a Boy Scout leader, happily married for 12 years. We have two children who are fine students, and I am considered a good citizen. My wife thinks cross-dressing is weird and has told me she will not tolerate it in her presence. I respect her too much to defy her wishes. Early in our marriage, she insisted that I see a psychiatrist. The doc-tor informed me that he sees nothing wrong, weird or harmful in what I do so long as I do it in private. I want to thank you, Ann, for helping me and millions of other cross-dressers feel less guilty and freakish. -Ann Fan Forever in California

Dear Forever,
There are a great many misconceptions about cross-dressers, the principal one being that they are all homosexuals. The purpose of this column is to educate, and that is what I try to do. Thanks for noticing.

Our Reader to Reader Question of the Week:

Dear Readers,
, whatever they needed I provided. What really hurt my son and I the most was the obituary - we were not mentioned at all. Our friends (mine and hers) were appalled. I was embarrassed and upset for not just me, but for my son-who loved her also. I never been so upset. Her x-husband put his wife and kids and their grandchildren in the obituary, who my girlfriend barely knew. They live an hour away from us. I know its silly to be mad over a little section of the newspaper, but it still hurts. Will time let this devastating loss of her and this article ever go away? I am so angry at this whole situation, its not like we can go and rewrite an obituary notice.

Tell us what you think?
